Turle Pattern!

Abbreviations:
Ch-Chain

Supplies:
Size 3.5 crochet hook.
Worsted weight yarn. Color for turtle, shell and any embellishments.
Scissors.
Stuffing/Filling.
Yarn needle.
Small amount of black embroidery floss for the mouth and eyebrows.
Safety eyes.

Arm (Make 2)
Sc x 6 in magic ring.
Sc x 60.
Fo and leave a long tail. You will use the tail to sew the arm to your turtle.
Feet (Make 2)
Sc x 6.
2sc in each st x 6.
Sc x 30.
(Invdec, sc x 4) x 2.
Fo and leave a long tail. You will use the tail to sew the foot to your turtle.

Feet (Make 2)
Sc x 6.
2sc in each st x 6.
Sc x 30.
(Invdec, sc x 4) x 2.
Fo and leave a long tail. You will use the tail to sew the foot to your turtle.

Head and Body
The head and body are worked as one piece starting at the top of the head. Stuff the body as you are working, I usually start
stuffing the head as I am decreasing at the neck area. And this is when I will add my eyes as well.
Sc x 6.
2sc in each st x 6.
2sc in each st x 12.
(sc, 2sc in next st) x 12.
(sc, sc, 2sc in next st) x 12.
Sc x 600.
(sc x 10, invdec) x 7.
Sc x 20.
Invdec x 13, sc x 14.
Invdec x 7, sc x 11.
Invdec x 6, sc x 47.
(sc, 2sc in next st) x 17.
Sc x 125.
(Sc x 6, 2sc in next st) x 5.
Sc x 175.
Now invdec around until your body is closed, and weave in ends.

Turtle Shell
Sc x 6.
2sc in each st x 6.
(Sc, 2sc in next st) x 6.
(Sc, sc, 2sc in next st) x 6.
(Sc, sc, sc, 2sc in next st) x 6.
Sc x 190.
Now you ch1 and do a round of the crab stitch.

Earflap Pom Pom Hat
I used a bit of a lighter weight worsted yarn compared to what I used for the turtle.
Sc x 6.
2sc in each st x 6.
2sc in each st x 12.
(sc, 2sc in next st) x 12.
(sc, sc, 2sc in next st) x 12.
Sc x 600.
Now fo.

Earflap
Insert hook into any st and pull thru loop.Ch1 and sc in same st.
Sc x 9.
Ch1, turn, sc x 10.
Ch1, turn, invdec, sc x 6, invdec.
Ch1, turn, invdec, sc x 4, invdec.
Ch1, turn, invdec, sc x 2, invdec.
Ch1, turn, sc x 4, fo.

Now fold the hat in half and eyeball where you think the other earflap should go. I usually start my next earflap about 16st from the end of the first earflap. And work same as first earflap. At the end DO NOT fo! Instead sc around the entire piece then fo.

Now add tassels and if you like a pom pom!I do not stuff my arms because I do not like how they stick out if they are stuffed, but you can add a little bit of stuffing if you like. Then sew arms to turtle. I sew half of the foot to the turtle then I stuff it firmly then proceed to sew the rest of the foot to the body and fo and weave in ends.

Now for the shell I do the same thing, I will sew half of the shell on the back of the turtle’s body. But first see exactly where you want the shell to go because if you place it right this is what will make your turtle sit. It rests on the bottom of the shell and it’s feet. Then start stuffing the shell as you are sewing the rest to the body. It takes a little practice with your first few turtles to get the hang of it.
